Cosmetic Artistry

FAQ

  1. How are Erabrowlogy, Eraliner and Eralip carried out?
Using a German-made handheld micropen, colour is embedded into the epidermis (topmost) layer of the skin to create the look of filled-in brows, lashline or lips, using our Soft Shading technique.
  2. What is Soft Shading?
Soft Shading creates a natural filled-in look for your eyebrows/eyeliner/lips so you can look polished and confident anytime, anywhere. We believe this method is safer, gives consistent results and is less harsh on most Asian features. The look created by Erabelle is possible only with the use of German-made micropen for our cosmetic artistry services.
  3. Are the micropen tips recycled? Will there be any contamination of colours?
We practise strict hygiene standards and a new sterile micropen tip is used for every customer. You can ask your artist to show you the newly opened pack.

Additionally, every tip comes with colour backflow protector to prevent any back-flowing of colours to the machine. The handheld micropen is also equipped with colour backflow protection. Hence, there will not be any contamination.
  4. Are the colours used safe? Are the colours recycled?
All colours exceed the safety standards of the European Cosmetic Directive and/or compliant with German rules for permanent makeup and tattoo. Our micro-colours used for cosmetic artistry are certified to be dermatological-safe, allergological-safe, microbiological-safe and toxicological-safe. Prior to the colour service, colour is dispensed into a pigments tray. Any leftover colour will then be discarded.
  5. Is the process painful?
Topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the area before the colour service. The intensity of pain is dependent on the individual's threshold for pain. Most of our customers liken the pain experienced to that of an ant's bite while others find the process entirely painless.
  6. Will there be any swelling?
There will be minimal swelling initially but the swelling normally subsides within 1-2 hours for Erabrowlogy and 24 hours for Eralip/Eraliner.
  7. How is cosmetic artistry different from tattooing?
Cosmetic artistry only embeds colour into the epidermis layer of skin, which will fade over time. Tattoo embeds pigments into the dermis, which allows the colour to stay for a longer period of time. Hence, the colour of cosmetic artistry is semi-permanent while that of tattoo is permanent. Also, the colour from cosmetic artistry will look more natural than that from tattooing.
  8. Will the colour turn green or blue over time, like in the case of tattoo?
The colour will fade gradually, but it will not turn green or blue over time.
  9. What should I do when the colour fades?
After the 1st colour service, the colour may be uneven and a touch-up may be required. Please do make an appointment for the next colour service within 6-8 weeks after the 1st colour service (for Erabrowlogy & Eraliner).

Generally, with 2 to 4 colour services, the brow, liner and lip colour will last you about 2-3 years. Thereafter, refresher touch-up packages can be purchased to restore the intensity of the colour.
  10. Can I use an eyebrow pencil/eyeliner to draw over my eyebrows/ eyeline if I wish to have a darker colour?
Yes, you may do so but only after the complete settling of colours, which may take 7-10 days.
  11. Will Erabrowlogy/ Eraliner/ Eralip turn out to be artificial looking?
No. Initially the colour may appear darker but not to worry, it is only temporary.
In general, the colour intensity will be reduced by approximately 25-50% naturally after the process. Colour retention varies amongst individuals, as it is dependent on the intensity and type of colour used, skin type as well as the maintenance. At Erabelle, we aim to do Erabrowlogy/ Eraliner/ Eralip that looks natural and polished, enhancing your features.
  12. What kind of training do the artists receive to perform cosmetic artistry?
All artists are required to successfully complete a series of courses that include training on colour theory, technique, features identification and sanitisation, followed by experience in hands-on clinic sessions. They also perform cosmetic artistry only after a year of practise doing Erabrow design.
  13. What is the difference between regular & Master Artists?
All of our artists, regardless of regular or Master, underwent similar training and courses on colour theory, technique, features identification and sanitisation, followed by hands-on clinic sessions. However, Master Artists are more experienced and have consistently displayed excellent skills, hence a surcharge for their service.
  14. Under which scenarios will cosmetic artistry services be unsuitable?
Pregnant customers will be advised to undergo cosmetic artistry services only after delivery.
Customers who are on medication for blood thinning will not be suitable for cosmetic artistry services. Those with other medical complications will be advised to seek opinion from their doctors prior to the service(s).
  15. Is it safe to do cosmetic artistry when I am breastfeeding?
Please be assured that it is generally safe to undergo cosmetic artistry services during breast feeding. Studies have shown that it is relatively safe to use topical anesthetics during breast feeding and topical anaesthetics have not been reported to cause problem for nursing babies. However, we recommend customers to stop breastfeeding for 24 hours after the service, as an added precaution.
